Hey guys, nice to see you again! Do you come here often? Anyways.. enough small talk, let's get straight to the action! I've received a lot of good feedback for the new level and new achievement, so I'm glad you guys enjoyed that. The closer we get to New Years and Christmas the harder it is to complete updates. So many presents to buy, so many games to play, and events to go to! But don't worry here at Sam and Dan Games we won't let you down, even if things come out a little late, they will arrive!

This week we will be doing a new multiplayer map that will replace the old one. Because let's be honest the old one is LAME! So I hope you guys will enjoy it. Along with that will come the new layout for the Pokemon Center that I think a lot of you will enjoy, it's been a long time coming but thanks to Velocity, we have it ready to go and should be up this week. Along with the new layout we will have new improvements, using magical technologies like AJAX (Google it, if you are curious), you will be able to see what the user requested for his trade without having to leave the search results page. On top of that I will adding other features that have been asked for a lot during our time here.

    Hi guys, I'm feeling a lot better thanks for your concern and support.

    So last week I talked about making a non-gaming announcement this week. After 6 years of being with my girlfriend I proposed to her this weekend! and she said yes! I actually made her a very small game as part of the proposal since I am a game developer after all. She loved it and we are very happy, next step is to plan the wedding >.< haha so lets get back to games!

    Okay so PTD 2, this week I'm gearing up to work all out on getting this ready. Like always I like to be very open about what I'm working on so I will post a progress list of what I have to do and will be updating it all this week as I make progress on it.

    Party Selection Screen (100%)- Slightly refined, added new sorting options that you guys requested, plus additional settings to each sorting option as seen in the pictures below.

    Pokemon Upgrade Screen (60%) - Adding the two suggestions that you guys requested, being able to change your pokemon in the screen and showing the pokemon's stats. Other additions are showing the nickname of the pokemon along with its name, showing the gender by symbol and background color. Also you can see that you can see your abilities and their description and also change them before the level. Finally I added a new pokedex button that will take you to the pokedex information of this pokemon. It will be more detailed than in ptd 1. You can see a work in progress shot below. (Note: I'm using pokemon with random moves in them for testing purposes, you can't learn these move on Onix without hacking)

    Any attacks that need to be modified (50%) - Setting up the new stacking debuff mechanics. No longer will stat changing attack run out. They will also stack so you have to keep applying it to get the max effect. Watch the video below for a small preview. The graphic will get slightly bigger and stack as the debuff stacks. Also your pokemon will prioritize targets that have the lowest stack or no stack at all.

    • Team Rocket Mystery Gift Avatar - Solve the Mystery Hunt to get your very own Team Rocket Avatar!
    • New Story Level - Lavender Town -Arriving at Lavender Town you meet a familiar face, and find out the Team Rocket is recruiting members in Lavender Town.
    • Added Girl Bug Catcher Avatar - You can get this if you have the boy bug catcher just go to the Pokemon Center and pick here.

    Hello everyone, here we are starting a new week at Sam and Dan Games, we have some goodies coming at you this week. Today I will talk about the next update for PTD v3.8, it will have a good amount of new pokemon, along with new level and some fixes and additions. Tuesday we will have our Hero Tower Defense day with some new art and new info on the game. Then during the week I will be adding the Daily Code and Pokemon Adoptions features to the Pokemon Center.

    Let's talk about the Daily code and how it works.

    Once a day you can go to the Pokemon Center and go to the Daily Code Section and request a code. There are different codes that you can request. Each code has different chances to win prizes. Each code has a different cost and requirement to get.

      I will be adding different prizes in the future or tweaking the numbers a bit here and there. Remember you can only get one code per day per account. When I implement this it will be in the Pokemon Center.

    Now let's talk about Pokemon Adoptions, a lot of pokemon have been abandoned by their trainers due to all the incidents happening with Mewthree and such. Using your SnD Coins you will be able to adopt a pokemon of your choosing, the rarer the pokemon the more coins it will cost. Here are some examples of possible pricing and categories.
    • Common Shiny like Pidgey, Zubat etc will cost 1 SnD Coin to adopt.
    • Uncommon Shiny Pokemon like Pikachu, Magikarp, Drowzee will cost 5 SnD Coins to adopt.
    • Rare Shiny Pokemon (pokemon you can't find in the wild) like Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur will cost 10 SnD Coins to adopt.
    • Legendary Pokemon like Shiny Mew, Regular Entei, Regular Suicune, Regular Raikou will cost 20 SnD Coins to adopt.
    Speaking of SnD Coins, in the near future buying Ninja-ja will give you SnD coins instead of codes, this way when you buy let's say the apprentice edition you won't get 3 pikachu you will get a certain amount of coins that will let you pick and choose who you really want. It is a more flexible system than before and I hope you guys will enjoy. I also wanted to say that if you bought a Ninja-ja in the past I will not be able to give you Coins now and that we are still figuring out the exact coin conversion.

    The cool thing about the coins is that you can save them up for the future or save them up for a different game like Ninja-ja or Hero Tower Defense. All our games will use the SnD coins for special gifts that will save you time and make you look unique.

    What's next? Ninja-ja, Pokemon Tower Defense progress list.

    The pokemon tower defense update is still happening, and here is what we have for you guys:

    • Challenge Level (greatly inspired by forum member Zackirus, thanks for the great idea!) (100%)

    For the New Feature I have added a short poll on the website, you guys get to decide which feature you would like first.
    • Pokedex/Achievements - A pokedex will be added to the game to keep track of who you saw and who you caught, also achievements will be added into the game for finding certain pokemon and completing certain task, like beating a level without losing candy.
    • Targeting System - Your towers will be able to target different units depending on what command you give your pokemon. For example, attack first, attack last, attack lowest health..etc.
    • Different Pokeballs - Be able to buy different pokeballs that will let you catch pokemon at higher percentages.
    • Trading Center - A place that you can search for trades being done by other players. Search by who you want in the trade or search by what you want to trade, all trades will be handled by the game so once both sides agree on the trade you will both get them immediately.
    Choose wisely :)

    Also the last poll it seems like you guys want to keep trading, so trading will stay, in the future I might tweak things here and there but for now it stays like it is.

    I also added two new tabs to the site called "Suggestions" and "Bugs" these will cover both games PTD and Ninja-ja, make sure you read them before you offer a suggestions.

    The artist search is almost completed I sent emails to the top 9 applications that we received that fit into what our next game is going to be. Once they answer the emails we will pick from there. If you didn't get an email and you applied I just have to say thank you for even considering applying for the position, a lot of you had great art and we might contact you for a different game but for our next game we were looking for something very specific, some time this week I will send out a thank you letter to all who applied.

    I apologize for the Mystery Gift, it was going to be a really cool pokemon that I discovered but it ended up glitching and this weird pokemon showed up called MissingNo. So enjoy that ;)

    PTD 2 a New Beginning!

    We finally made it all the way back to Pallet Town on Pokemon Tower Defense, I'm pretty excited to finish the story levels and to focus more on PTD2. PTD one will not be receiving any drastic changes from it's current form as you guys might have noticed. A lot of the suggestions and ideas that you guys contributed will be pushed to PTD 2 instead. I really want PTD 2 to feel like a big upgrade from PTD 1, almost like how the original gold and silver felt like after red and blue. What this will mean for the game is smaller buttons! What I mean with smaller buttons is that the original game was meant for the Android marketplace and the closest  competition was a Tower Defense game that is still pretty popular on the Android Marketplace that featured a really plain layout in the game. Black background with big buttons. For the sequel the main target for the game won't be mobile devices so you will see menus and interfaces that have the computer in mind. Speaking of the computer! They have keyboards! So expect a lot of hotkeys for things like changing your moves and switching your pokemon. The next possible change that you guys asked about the whole time for PTD 1 is different pokeballs!

    Pokeballs

    Okay so like I said before you guys always asked about having different pokeballs for PTD 1, and I thought it was a great idea until I looked at how the game worked. Now as we all know once the pokemon is weakened you use the pokeball (which is unlimited in PTD 1) and you catch it. The first thing I thought about for better pokeballs (great ball, ultra ball) was to increase the percentage that a pokemon life would be to be considered weakened. But this would make the game very easy if the ultra ball you only needed to bring a pokemon down to 50% of their life to catch them.

    Now in the Nintendo games, pokeballs had a chance to not capture a pokemon this wasn't automatic like it is in PTD 1. is that something you want to see in PTD 2? What I had in mind is that pokeballs don't automatically capture the pokemon but instead it plays out the animation like the game and the pokemon can escape, this makes adding other pokeballs easier since they would improve your chance at capturing a pokemon, also some pokemon can only be captured with different pokeballs. On a side not special pokemon that have red bars (like shinies) would still be instant capture like they are now.

    Along with this in PTD 2 you won't have unlimited pokeballs, you will have to buy them when you start the level (if you want to). To go along with that change leveling up will no longer cost money and be automatic. This is something that has been requested for a long time and these changes it will make it happen.

    So tell me do you want pokeballs to have a chance at capturing a pokemon and have different pokeballs or just have one type and have it be 100% chance once weakened? Vote on the poll and have a lasting impact on the game.

    New Servers

    So we all hate when the server is slow and when you get an error page in the trading center (trust me I hate it too!) So using the funds that we get from SnD Coin purchase from amazing users like you ;) and from Ad Revenue we are currently paying for a Virtual Private Server which is the next step for us in improving the speed of our pages. Now the process of moving everything to the new server is going to take some time and there might even be a maintenance period where nobody will be able to play our games, but I'm trying to do the best that I can to make it smooth so you won't lose time or the time will be minimal. Just know that we are doing our best to make thing work better around here, using your contributions (which we are very grateful for and appreciate very much!)
